So, I know this is incredibly too early to be thinking about Christmas presents... but some of the presents have to go interstate, others to what is pretty much the other side of the world... and I don't want to have to buy 24 presents in the last weekend before Christmas....

But unfortunately there's a problem of being stuck for ideas... particularly for the junior cousins... (Which yes everyone is telling me I *don't* have to buy for, even though I *want* to buy for)...

So I'm looking for suggestions about what might make a cool present for the following people (or even what would make a dreadful present so I know what to avoid)...

From oldest to youngest

Girl - 17 nearly 18 years
Girl - 16 years
Girl - 13 years
Girl - 12 years
Girl - 8 years
Girl - 8 years
Girl - 8 years
Girl - 6 years
Boy - 6 years
Boy - just over a year
Boy - almost 1 year

Please feel free to leave a comment... doesn't even matter how expensive or not they are... If I like an idea but it costs too much I'll work out some way to make it cheaper.

Heh. Am I forgiven if I suggest my latest YA, "Gift of the Unmage" (first in the Worldweavers series) for the 12-year-old or the 13-ywar-old or even the 16-year-old, if they're readers? If you think this might be a good idea and you want them signed for recipients, let me know and I'll send you signed bookplates you can stick into the books...

You're definitely allowed to suggest it... And I'll certainly think about it...
Actually it might be good for the 13 year old ^^ At least I'm more than 85% sure she's a reader... the others I don't know for sure...

Thank you :)

Girl - 17 nearly 18 years - jewellery, if you know her taste, good, otherwise go for a nice simple necklace/earring set.

Girl - 16 years - make up. You can get some funky cases from target and the like, with several shades of eye shadow, foundation, blush, mascara, eyeliner and nail polish, at a reasonable price

Girl - 13 years lockable diary, and a funky pen (glitter or feathers or bouncing critters on the top) OR a jewellery making kit (look in Spotlight or find your nearest bead jewellery making place for earring/necklace sets
Girl - 12 years - ditto

Girl - 8 years - craft! most reject shops have canvasses, brushes and paint sets, or look in spotlight for sewing or embroidery projects (long stitch kits are good) sun catcher kits, badge making, or plaster mold and paint kits OR book vouchers
Girl - 8 years - ditto
Girl - 8 years - ditto
Girl - 6 years - ditto OR jigsaw puzzles (fairies are a good choice usually)

Boy - 6 years - lego or meccano sets (look in Big W for the little individual packs, instead of the play kits they try to make you focus on. OR look in Dick Smiths/Tandy, sort of stores, for the electronic play kits or science projects. Books, if you can find the horrible histories or books with gross facts, most boys love em *g*

Boy - just over a year - plastic (bath books) or cloth books especially counting ones, spinning top, chunky pencils crayons & colouring book, cloth ball - particularly if it has a bell in it, those wooden frames that look like abacuses as created by picasso, cutlery set (seriously, you can never have enough kids cutlery)
Boy - almost 1 year - ditto

another suggestion for the almost 18 year old if she's in Australia; movie gift certificate at her local cinema. My son got his sister the couples one last year, and it was great. Came with a trailer dvd so they knew what movies were coming up, gave them vouchers for tea/coffee after the movie, two free tickets and two half price tickets and vouchers for popcorn combos. Valid for 6 months.

By local I'm assuming you don't mean the nearest Greater Union... Or do you?? But hmm this is something I hadn't thought about...

Girl - 17 - 12 years = Book (there are a few choices here)

Girl - 8 years = LEGO (there's lots of variety there)

Boy - 6 years = LEGO

Boy - just over one year = rock hard plastic cars or cardboard books or bath toys

Boy - almost a year = similar stuff to over one year

Not a lot there but gets you started.

helllllo :]
16 & 17 year old I'd suggest either various items of makeup; Kit (which should be in Myer in NSW) has a whole gathering of different brands so you could hunt around there.

Otherwise, I'm not really sure, hehe. If you do get stuck, you can't really go wrong with gift cards. :]
